X-Message-Number: 30274 From: Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2008 01:46:39 -0500 Subject: Rumblings from Alcor's Inner Sanctum Steve Bridge, an Advisor to Alcor's Board, made the following remarkable announcement earlier in today's queue: "I did not know that Dave Pizer had added CryoNet to what I thought was a private e-mail conversation among several people. Fortunately, I don't think I violated anyone's privacy in my post and I hope I contributed useful information. However, I am extremely busy and cannot hope to keep up with CryoNet debates on this subject." In other words, he has no time to discuss such important issues in front of Alcor members and the public. But what about the time he has to discuss them behind our backs? He could certainly use that time to tell us what he is advising the Board to do, at the same time he is doing that. With advisors like this, it is no wonder Alcor's Board thinks they do not have to consult with its members on anything. And later in the day, we learn of even more secret discussions. The idea of Alcor members voting for its Board is so complex that it cannot be resolved in carefully written public documents - it must be discussed verbally in private meetings, says Steve Van Sickle, Alcor's Executive Director. Well, that definitely makes it easier to deal with, since there will be nothing written down to provide any accountability, nothing the public or Alcor members can read and so no feedback to deal with, and they can all gang up on one Alcor member - Dave Pizer. Although I'm sure he is up to the challenge, it is indicative of the overall attitude at Alcor that someone with a long background and relative affluence deserves attention, while other more ordinary people who made similar inquiries over the years have merely been dissed. Of course, Dave has also gotten that treatment before, himself. Let us all know how you made out this time around, Dave. If they offer you a better brand of kite? -- Are we headed for a recession?
