When people sign with fake names, it's easy for them to claim that they "need" to be anonymous. After all, the claim can't be checked. I'm afraid that after many years on the net, in all kinds of forums, I have come to discount anything said by anyone who won't sign their real name. Including their protestations of the terrible things that will happen to them if they rant under their real names. Regardless of what I feel about whatever they're posting! And if someone purports to vouch for the good faith of a fake-name person, then unless the vouching party is well-known to me, my conclusion is often that they're BOTH sock puppets. That's not a hard and fast rule, but sadly, it's often true. This would be a more useful forum if the use of a false name were defined as "abuse" that would quickly lead to blocking.
