X-Message-Number: 30603 From: Kennita Watson <> Subject: FDGD Travelogue, Sunday Date: Sun, 9 Mar 2008 19:45:48 -0600 Sunday started with panic because my laptop wouldn't boot. After trying miscellaneous keys, Mike suggested it might be a hardware failure. I tried rebooting one more time, and while it was whirring, I picked up the front edge and dropped it. It completed booting, but I'm afraid to move it now. I'll have to in order to get it home, of course. I think it's time to look into that MacBook Pro. I misplaced my DVD for 10 minutes at the beginning of the day, which threw the whole schedule off, since both my video and "Grandpa's Still in the Tuff Shed" run almost exactly an hour. Other than that, the day went pretty well. I handed out 41 surveys -- the 8-year-old needed her mom's help, but the 9-year-old did OK. Overall I handed out 99 surveys; 8 better than last year, IIRC. I think I could do better if I had extra hands. Any takers? I've already reserved my usual room at the Best Western Nederland for next year's Frozen Dead Guy Days. Pam says there are already 13 rooms booked for that weekend (out of 23). The only other hotel in Nederland, the Sundance, has 11 rooms. When they're full, you go to Boulder. There's room for one more in my room (a King) if we get a rollaway. Otherwise, if you're thinking of joining me next year, I suggest you reserve a room now. Later in the afternoon I got a little dizzy; I think it was a combination of little sleep, fighting a cold, and not drinking enough water. It takes me over half an hour to set up and take down each day, and I'm sure it will take me much longer to get everything packed up for travel. I'm sure this could be improved on. I'll be going home without some candy, some surveys, and some trifolds. I think I'll go to sleep soon. Live long and prosper, Kennita Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=30603
