Rudy,

Thanks for the compliments. It was a lot of fun for both my wife and I to have a
chance to talk about Cryonics.

In answer to one of your observations, I was asked about the cost of cryonics
and how my wife and I are able to pay for it. I explained that we simply had a
life insurance policy, and the proceeds from it after we died would go to Alcor
to pay for our suspension. I further stated that this made cryonics relatively
inexpensive, costing no more than what you might spend going to the movies each
year, and thus was easily in reach of most people. But I knew as soon as I gave
the answer that they would never include it. Barbara shook her head and said to
her producer that it was just too confusing for people to understand! You can
only imagine the disbelief I felt at that comment. I know I'm not the most
articulate person in the world, but I couldn't think of any other way to make it
more understandable than it already is.

The problem was only compounded by the fact that the piece that actually did air
mentions that both Venus and I spent $75k each for our neuro option. No mention
is made about how we are paying for it, and with my response to that very
question cut, it leaves an inaccurate view to most viewers that we must have
paid all that money out of our own pocket upfront. And so the myth that cryonics
is only for the rich marches on. Uhhgg!

I hope you have some luck with your book. Every person I talk to about cryonics
who has any interest in it always mentions the expense of the procedure as
something that holds them back. I wonder how many people would actually get off
the fence and do something if this myth were eradicated.
