How cryonics will fare in the middle of a 6.5 billion >die off is anyone's guess. I would like to offer the following comment. In debates on subjects such as global warming, world wide pandemics or, as in this case, peak oil, you usually have the pessimists, who predict the end of the world, and the optimists, who say everythig is ok, don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Each side has endless supplies of statistics, simulations, historical facts, scientific arguments and logical demonstrations proving that they are right and the other side is wrong, if not terminally stupid. Reality, of course, is always somewhere in between. With peak oil, for instance, there will obviously not be a 6.5 billion die off, nor will or civilization be able to continue with business as usual for very long. A reasonable expectation would be conditions like what existed in Great Britain during WW2, with severe rationing of food, water, energy and travel for some time, until practical alternative energy sources are finally deployed. We'll just have to do without our SUV's and wide screen TVs until then. Hardship and social unrest, yes, Eden or Doomsday, I don't think so. Francois Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=30738
