I would be glad to know which of the statements about red wine above are also true of grape juice. > Inhibition of cancer cell proliferation and suppression of TNF-induced > activation of NFkappaB by edible berry juice. > Boivin D, Blanchette M, Barrette S, Moghrabi A, B liveau R. I wish the webmaster would do something about this problem of accented letters. See how much more readable the above becomes when I insert the missing letters (without their accent marks, obviously): > Boivin D, Blanchette M, Barrette S, Moghrabi A, B liveau R. Laboratoire > de Medecine Moleculaire, Hopital Ste-Justine-UQAM, Centre de Cancerologie > Charles-Bruneau, Centre de Recherche de l'Hopital Sainte-Justine, 3175, > Chemin Cote-Sainte-Catherine, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. (A French dictionary supplied the word 'cancerologie' and a Google maps search provided the name of the street. I'm not sure about the surname, although the missing letter is obviously a vowel.) The growth of various cancer > cell lines, including those of stomach, prostate, intestine and breast, > was > strongly inhibited by raspberry, black currant, white currant, gooseberry, > velvet leaf blueberry, low-bush blueberry, sea buckthorn and cranberry > juice, but not (or only slightly) by strawberry, high-bush blueberry, > serviceberry, red currant, or blackberry juice. I tried to find raspberry, blackcurrant gooseberry or cranberry juice in my local supermarket. There are plenty of items called 'fruit drink' or 'fruit juice drink' which are typically 25% fruit juice and contain added sugar. It would be a pity if the benefit obtained from the juice were counterbalanced by harm from consumption of excess sugar. I found several brands of something called 'apple and blackcurrant juice' but if you read the label, they are always at least 95% apple juice and at most 5% blackcurrant juice. Of course you could drink a large amount of these just for the blackcurrant juice content but I gather that even without added sugar it is possible to get too much sugar just by drinking a lot of fruit juice. I settled on something called Ocean Spray Cranberry Classic, which the label says contains 25% fruit juice and (of course) added sugar. I will try to find something better somewhere else but that will do for now. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=30843
