There is no "real point". MD was failing to see the implications of  
his own statements.

This erroneous idea is based upon the belief that resources are  
scarce. Proper development would lead to vastly expanded markets for  
goods produced in industrialized countries, making everyone richer.  
The effective employment of those currently excluded would lead to an  
explosion in scientific progress as the number of highly educated  
persons would be vastly multiplied.
