Hello,

I only have bumper stickers on my SUV, it is a dodge durango 02 and seats 7, we
often have this filled--and only use this vehicle when we are needing to
transport more than 5 ;-) We also have a four door red sports car that seats 5,
this vehicle gets most of our use and uses less gas than the SUV :-) The
smaller car handles better, but is less safe in an accident as it is lower to
the ground and weighs less. The larger vehicle can flip more easily, it also
takes longer to stop--but in an accident it is much safer due to its extra
weight, it is also built on a truck frame.

I'd prefer to have to drive at all, and would love to live in an urban
environment where I could walk to business and use public transport, as it is I
live in the suburbs--and drive an average of 1 hour a day, 60 miles. Some days
a lot more, very few days are less.

Thanksgiving is a time to get together with your family and eat all your
favorite old time family recipes--or go out to eat, or meet at a church
pot-luck--the holiday has evolved to mean getting together with ones family and
being thankful for what one has. You can read more about the history at
Wikipedia, but it started with a celebration of Pilgrams and Native Americans
after a long hard winter when many Pilgrams died --there is more history though
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving. We went to our Unitarian
Universalist church for a potluck with 80 other church members, there was quite
an array of foods, the kids ran around with friends while the adults socialized
after the feast and drank wine ;-). We also had a Thanksgiving meal at our
home, with 17 family members. My husband's mother saw our house for the first
time (no pressure on me to clean or anything ;-) but I'm enjoying that my house
is now spotless after all our guests are gone

:-) ). Some of my church friends were joking that there is Spring Cleaning and
Holiday Cleaning (for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the only other time of the
year extended family is expected to get together excepting special graduations,
births or birthdays of course). On the Sunday before Thanksgiving the
following story was read to the children during story time in the sanctuary:
http://www.powells.com/biblio/9780689851438 , the lesson was about not giving
up on your ideals-- because Sarah had to ask 8 different presidents to get
Thanksgiving made into a holiday! On Thanksgiving day we attended virtually a
sermon put on by a Unitarian Universalist minister in Second Life at the UU
worship center, my kids got a kick out of that ;-). But we UU's try to make
every holiday a learning opportunity pretty much. With Halloween we had a Day
of the Dead party and learned all about the history of that ;-) :
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dead The kids

at our church made colored sugar skulls, we had a dinner, a lot of carnival
games, a parade around the block in our costumes (I was in a midriff baring,
cape flying super woman outfit, with a Hillary Clinton Mask :-P ;-) ) (my
youngest girl a pink princess, my boy a ninja, my eldest girl was a "dead
girl") we had an altar to place mementos and photos of our dead loved ones
one--and I personally liked the increased opportunity to talk with people about
 cryonics ;-).

Take care :-)

Well no, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia. Perhaps if you
could provide a brief explanation of what it's all about and the exact date
on which it falls, then I can either celebrate it myself or at least think
of my US friends on that day. (I think it was originally to celebrate a
successful harvest by your founding fathers. Is that correct?)

Halloween is becoming more popular here.

I am dismayed that any cryonicist possesses an SUV. I have been told that
they comprise 1/6 of US vehicles but account for 1/4 of rollovers.
