X-Message-Number: 3180 Newsgroups: sci.cryonics Subject: Seven questions Message-ID: <> From: (Ian Taylor) Date: 26 Sep 1994 03:20:13 -0500 Having ploughed through the FAQ and the fascinating technical discussions in this group for the last few weeks, several questions sprung to my aging mind, apologies if they have already been discussed: 0 When can we expect to have a technique that ensures permanent, damage-free biostatis? 1 Does *any* structural change occur _during_ cryonic suspension? 2 To what extent are cellular structures damaged by entering cryonic suspension using current techniques? 3 What is the lowest level of metabolism possible without complete metabolic suspension, and for how long can it be maintained? 4 How many people are now in suspension? (The FAQ gives 60 as reported in July 1992 - perhaps Alcor can update their figures of 271 members/22 suspensions?) 5 Are there any alternatives to cryonic suspension forseen in the next ten years? 6 Are cryonic services available in Europe? Live forever or die in the attempt. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=3180
