Verkasalo, et al. (2009). European Norms and Equations for a Two
Dimensional Presentation of Values as Measured with Schwartz's 21-item
Portrait Values Questionnaire. European J. of Social Psychology,
39(5), pp. 780-92.

The part of this study of interest to us concerns the evidence of
religiosity in different countries. This was measured indirectly as
the frequency of praying. Frequency. of praying increases with
Conservation (beta=.24) and Self-Transcendence (beta=.15) values. In
other words, the strongest effect results from the Conservation
dimension. Thus, the more people in a country express Openness to
Change, the opposite of Conservation, and to a lesser degree Self-
Enhancement, the opposite of Self-Transcendence, the less prayer
frequency and therefore lower religiosity.

We know from the reanalysis of the Badger data that increased
religiosity means less acceptance of cryonics. It is no surprise that
greater Openness to Change is associated with less religiosity and
greater acceptance of cryonics. The 3 countries that show highest
Openness to Change are Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden (Fig 2, p.
786). However, Switzerland is one of the 2 countries which is very
high on Self-Transcendence, this pulls in the wrong direction. Denmark
and Sweden are not significantly different from each other, but Sweden
appears to be slightly less religious. From this we can conclude that
marketing of cryonics is most likely to be successful in Europe in
these two Countries.

At this time, I am reproducing the test marketing materials that can
be downloaded from the 'files' page of www.cosmism.info. However, due
to the total lack of funding for this research, I am printing the
Folder in black and white. Color printing would be about ten times as
expensive. That is, about a thousand USD, for the 1,000 Folders needed
for this preliminary test. At this time, I want to state again my call
for contributions for the proposed study, which would test the
marketing of cryonics in a few European Countries. It does appear that
I happen to be conducting this first trial in an ideal location. It
would be extremely short sighted to compromise the results due to a
failure to supply even minimal financial support.
