X-Message-Number: 31853 Date: Wed, 5 Aug 2009 11:42:43 -0700 Subject: Arrangements in Oregon From: Charles Platt <> Some time ago I contacted the group "Compassion and Choices in Oregon" regarding the issue of autopsy. Below is their reply, which they have agreed that I can post on this discussion list. If you choose to make contact with them please bear in mind that you will be an informal representative of the cryonics community. The Oregon law does impose some very significant requirements for residency, which I think would require at least three months to satisfy. Thus, Oregon would only be an option for someone who is able to move well in advance of legal death. All the regulations can easily be found online by anyone with a serious interest. --Charles Platt An autopsy is not performed on a person who dies after taking the lethal dose of medication prescribed under Oregon's aid-in-dying. Therefore, you have nothing to worry about if you use Oregon's law and also wish to be cryopreserved.
