Hi Kevin!

I don't know whether you've already done this or plan to, or not, but Paul
Wakfer felt that a recent message of mine deserved to be put up in SCI.
CRYONICS also. You may remember it: it discussed the motivation for cryonics,
and compared it with ordinary medicine: we freeze people BECAUSE we don't
know how to fix them, while ordinary doctors simply kill (ie. allow to rot
or be cremated) those people whom they don't know how to fix. Basically I
was pointing out that ideas on repair, and theories of self, and etc etc
were all nice to have, but were not at all the core of the cryonics idea
itself. And in more or less these words, said that simply killing patients
because you don't know what else to do is one of the greatest and most
absurd pieces of hubris, given the vastness of the universe and the future,
that anyone has yet devised.

Unfortunately I don't remember the message number. If you've been reading
the messages, you might help out.

		Thanks, and long long life,

			Thomas Donaldson

[ Thomas, that was message #3170. I'll forward it to sci.cryonics.
By the way, _this_ message (except for my comment here) already
went to sci.cryonics automatically because it had "SCI.CRYONICS"
in the Subject line. :-( - KQB ]
