The project is to build a freeze dryer to preserve biological spe cimens (small birds, and mammals up to about eagle sized) for the Nova Scotia Mu seum of Natural History. The apparatus involves a few refrigeration coils and a vacuum pump connected to a low pressure chamber. My design team did a bit of research and we came up some info on a Dr. Rolland. Hower who was and may still be at the Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History. Other than that the only other info was on freeze drying tissues and bacteria cultures, but none on whole specimens. Does anyone out there know of any books, journals or contact persons that might be able to help us along.> >Thanks in advance, Paul Melanson Jan (John) Coetzee.
