The first thing that popped up was NATIONAL FUNERAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION FUNERAL HOME MEDICAL WASTE . . . "The protocol recognizes that funeral directors discharge embalming wastewater to publicly owned treatment works and to septic systems and that if embalming products are properly handled, funeral homes generally do not generate hazardous wastes regulated under RCRA" "Embalming wastewater" is to say blood, fluid in, blood out. It is dated 2004. There doesn't seem to be anything more recent. >> Thanks for looking that up Keith. It would be helpful at this point to hear from Alcor as to their position on how they dispose of medical waste. I do remember back when Larry Johnson's allegations of improper disposal first surfaced (back in 2004) that Alcor was inspected for improper disposal and no evidence was found of such. Perhaps this problem has already been addressed? I think I'll email them and see what they have to say on this. << I can state that certain tools from Sears (cleaned and included in the sterilized instrument pack) are superior for this purpose in every way to any of the medical instruments I have used or seen used. >> So the tools are sterilized then? If so this is good to hear. I would still argue that we should use medical instruments if for no other reason than it is good PR. No matter how well we justify it to a reporter, you know they are still going to run with the heading "Cryonics Company Uses Sears Hammer to Remove Head". Use of medical instruments would nip this type of misinformation and distortion in the bud.
