X-Message-Number: 32311 Date: Thu, 14 Jan 2010 09:35:00 -0500 Subject: Congratulations, Ben, on your speaking opportunity From: Rudi Hoffman <> --001636834010bb7daf047d20ca05 Hello, Fellow cryonetters: Hope all is well with all and happy 2010. Congratulations to you, Ben Best, on the chance to speak at a SciFi convention. Every year for the last five or so, my friends who participate in a speaking/panel track at the DragonCon in Atlanta invite me to participate. Regretfully, every year this coincides with other activities. But, perhaps some readers of this post have attended or will attend, and I will most certainly get to this one of these years. It is huge, I understand over 40 or 50 thousand attend the "Con." Having public exposure in reasonably good target markets, being an active part of various communities, seems to me to be a good idea. It has been observed by others, and is also my personal experience, that the response rate to interest in cryonics is still surprisingly low, even/especially at sci-fi conferences. But, timing is important, and exposure to this idea over extended time may be helpful to it's acceptance. Ben, I also wanted to say I enjoyed being with you as part of the South Florida young cryonicists conference last weekend. Your presentations continue to get better...you are always highly prepared and clearly do your homework. Good luck at this conference, and please let us know how things go.
