X-Message-Number: 3242 Date: 11 Oct 94 15:36:11 EDT From: Paul Wakfer <> Subject: CRYONICS CryoSpan Patient Policy The following has been said here before and is detailed in the CryoSpan booklet, but for those few on this list who are hard of hearing, blind, dull-witted, innocently misunderstanding, or simply incapable of being fair and truthful, I quote from that booklet: "CryoSpan is a for-profit company which offers long-term care for cryonics patients who are under the legal control of other organizations." and "CryoSpan does not deal directly with the general public. It operates as a service provider for 'primary' organizations such as CryoCare or the American Cryonics Society (ACS). These primary organizations pay CryoSpan's fees and retain ultimate legal responsibility for the welfare of the patients." and "CryoSpan's first loyalty is to its patients. We are determined that no patient should ever be lost due to lack of funding. Therefore, CryoSpan only contracts with organizations whose minimum funding requirements provide sufficient funds to pay for the long-term costs of cryonics care. These funds must be in the form of an irrevocable trust which will generate enough income (after inflation) to maintain the patient indefinitely, for centuries if necessary." I don't wish to overload Cryonet by posting CryoSpan's contracts with ACS and CryoCare, which contain the full legal requirements relating to the above statements, but these contracts are available to the public. If anyone should wish to have a copy, please send me email to that effect. (The contracts are virtually identical, so ask for one or the other.) Paul Wakfer President, CryoSpan Inc.
