The funds are placed in a Certificate of Deposit and remain untouched until needed for the member's suspension. If the member changes his mind and cancels the suspension arrangements, Alcor returns the funds, including accumulated interest, minus a small fee for the trouble. But the funds are then completely out of the family's hands and control. I assume that CI handles prepayments in a similar fashion.
