Subject: CRYONICS Financing

Whatever can be said about cryonics, it remains at least an unsure
bet on tomorow. Given the uncertainety, it looks for many, myself first, as
far too costly, even if paid over a long time span with a life insurance. I
know CI accepts nearly anything if the value amount at somewhat above $ 28
000. So, why not buy real estate with a loan, rent it anduse it when full
paid as a lump of money to pay for cryonics? With the loan comes an
insurance, in case of premature death, the insurance paids everything, so
from the day the loan is signed up, there is the full money for cryonics
suspension.

Using this scheme, my current capital is somewhat above $ 200 000,
well I am a rather poor french worker and I would have some problems to
find $ 28 000 in my pocket for buying anything. With the low current
inflation, loans are cheap and a rented flat can paid in full for it. I
would be interested to see some comments and critics on the subject.

There is one practical case: I have a mobil home on the
mediterranean sea shore, the cost was somewhat in the $ 25 000 range, I
rent it in July and August and get a return, after taxes, near $ 2 000/year
or 8 per cent. I use it for my summer holidays in June and/or September, so
cryonics paids my holidays.

There I would make three remarks:
1) I think everybody can do the same, so that cryonics cost is only a
theoretical subject reduced at some paperwork.
2) It would be useful if all cryonics organisations could think about such
financing and favor it.
3) To go a step further, why cryonics organizations could not sell
themselve some real estate properties, for example with specially designed
cryonics facilities nearby? Assume for example something is valued at $ 100
000 on the market, if that is built in a set of ten, then the unit cost
must be somewhere near $ 50 000. That let the cryonics organization with $
50 000 in cash at sign up. Why not use it for research? When suspension
becomes effective, it is paid with the real estate value: $ 100 000. I see
no problem with this financing system. I think some cryonics organization
have right now the financial power to start this project, why not try it?

Contrairy to Wall Street, I have never seen the real estate market
going really bear, at worst, the prices go hand in hand with inflation, if
there is no outrageous speculations, the risk seems low.

Another possibility yet: if no cryonics group want to put any money
in this kind of project, may be there could be a new service, gathering
would-be cryonics sign up, so that they can invest collectively in a
project. I know of a person having a full mountain in southern US, that
could serve as a seed for a project...
