X-Message-Number: 32753 From: "John de Rivaz" <> Subject: re Effects of the Social Environment on Health Date: Mon, 9 Aug 2010 09:57:34 +0100 I wonder what real, useful, results will be obtained from spending half a million dollars per year per project for five years on these projects. This cryonet message came on a day when the BBC featured an extreme shortage of jobs for those who had graduated from university this year. People often write about greed for money, but there is also greed for jobs. There was a thread in Longevity Report recently where someone wrote that everyone only need work 2 days a week to produce goods and services that are wanted or needed, the other three are "make work". Given that everyone has a limited lifespan, which readers of this list want to extend, I wonder whether "make work" could be discouraged and everyone enjoy the extra three days/week this would produce. Comparing it with present day lifespans, this would over double the average duration of free time. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://John.deRivaz.com for websites including Cryonics Europe, Longevity Report, The Venturists, Porthtowan, Alec Harley Reeves - inventor, Arthur Bowker - potter, de Rivaz genealogy, Nomad .. and more Content-Type: text/html; [ AUTOMATICALLY SKIPPING HTML ENCODING! ] Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=32753
