I agree with the need to recognize the cultural, social and
ritualistic aspects of building an activist community of like-minded
persons. However, I disagree that this should be connected to any
religion. I see cryonics as part of a move to make physical the dreams
of humanity that until recently have been impossible and therefore
have been expressed through spiritual or religious aspirations. A
material understanding of the world is supplanting the natural but
primitive religious understanding.

Support communities are already available: Meetup has the following
totals for Atheists:

My suggestion is to check in with your local Atheist Meetup group, and
let us know how many people are already thinking in terms of
transhumanism in general, and cryonics in particular. I am only just
making contact with my own groups - there are 4 or 5
transhuman-interested individuals, none aware of the international
movements as such, and none connected to cryonics... yet.
