Thank you for replying to my post. That gives me some indication that you
care what Alcor members and prospective members think, a trait conspicuously
absent in most past Alcor Presidents and current members of its executive
board.

Permit me to answer some of the items in your post, as well as ask another
question or two.

You said (in brackets): [There's something a little odd about someone
calling themselves "Finance
Department" questioning whether my name is "real". I'm not sure what "real"
is supposed to mean, but I'll assume you mean "legal name" and/or "name
solely used".]

It's pretty obvious, likely also to Chris Manning (another reply I got),
that "Finance Department" is not my real name. It is a handle. Another
place I've posted to for years, I got dubbed "FD" and anyone can call me
that if they like. Why I use that particular handle and why I post
anonymously, has been explained many times on that other forum (Cold Filter,
where Luke I guess is one of the few "pure of mind and speech" regulars
J/K). I will not go into that in this post, but may in another if it seems
CN readers have generally not heard of me and my various critiques regarding
Alcor.

As to my having a right to use a handle and you not, I am not the President
of Alcor, and have no public obligation to be personally scrutinized. Thank
you for explaining that More is your real name; I assume changed such from
O'Connor in a valid court of law?

[My Alcor title is both president and CEO.]

Thanks for acknowledging that you are Alcor's President, but your statement
above does not concur with Alcor's bylaws, which do not provide for a CEO
nor a Chief Executive Officer which you call yourself here:

http://alcor.org/AboutAlcor/meetalcorstaff.html

At best, either of those latter terms are descriptive of your real job,
which is President, but neither of them is your job title. But it would be
appropriate if you ensured the above-mentioned link describes you as
"President and CEO". Perhaps that is already a job in the works.

Alcor's bylaws do, though, also provide for an Executive Director. You can
officially call that your title too, if the Board determines it. It has
been a favorite of recent Presidents to, strangely it seems, try to obscure
the fact that they were Presidents. But it never meant that they were not
also Presidents. BTW, here is the applicable section of the bylaws:

"ARTICLE 6. OFFICERS
SECTION 1. NUMBER OF OFFICERS

The officers of this corporation shall be a President, a Secretary and a
Chief Financial Officer who shall be designated the Treasurer. The
corporation may also have as determined by the Board of Directors a Chairman
of the Board, an Executive Director, one or more Vice Presidents, Assistant
Secretaries, Assistant Treasurers, or other officers. Any number of offices
may be held by the same person except that neither the Secretary nor the
Treasurer may serve as the President or Chairman of the Board."

Having said the above, I must also say I am delighted to see Alcor's Board
(unilaterally, sans member input or voting of them in) have appointed an
academically-qualified person to Alcor's Presidency. For the one Alcor
board member who sometimes writes to me, that was a sincere comment. :)

And now for the other of the 2 questions. What is your view/vision of where
Alcor must go and how, with 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year timetables? That
would cover changes necessary as well as new agenda, and is real
Presidential material. :)

Best regards,

FD
