X-Message-Number: 3421 From: Subject: CRYONICS PROP 16 Date: Thu, 17 Nov 1994 22:28:44 -0800 (PST) First, I'd like to thank David Brandt-Erichsen for posting the text of Oregon's PROP 16. The law charges the Health Department with implementation, so I phoned them for more info. I was told that they have to have their regulations written by December 8th, when the law takes effect. Here in Oregon, the State Coroner's Department is a part of the Health Department. They said they didn't think autopsies were going to be required, as they already feel they have enough safeguards in place. The individual I spoke with didn't seem to have much of a problem with cryonics, either. I was also told that they have a lot of meetings yet to come on this subject, and that the final word won't be out until December. It seems their biggest problem is what to check on the death certificate for cause of death! :-) Ever forward, David -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Cosenza PGP 2.3a Public Key available by finger _or_ ftp.netcom.com:/pub/dcosenza PGP 2.3a Key fingerprint = BF 6C AA 44 C6 CA 13 3F 4A EC 0A 90 AE F3 74 6D "When encryption is outlawed, only outlaws will have encryption."
