I'm trying to flash-freeze some crystals that are in .5% octyl glucoside. If I can get the crystal into the N2 stream things are OK, but several of my nicest, biggest crystals have mysteriously disappeared somewhere between picking them up with the loop and sticking them into the stream. We suspect that since there is very little surface tension (due to the detergent) the crystals are simply falling off or being blown off by the N2 before they freeze. Has anyone else run across this problem? Any suggestions? Phoebe Rice John (Jan) Coetzee Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=3434
