X-Message-Number: 3471 Subject: CRYONICS CryoNet Subject-Line Etiquette From: (Ben Best) Date: Mon, 12 Dec 1994 00:19:00 -0500 Several weeks ago I raised an issue of concern to me involving Paul Wakfer and Michael Riskin. In the subject line of this posting I put "CRYONICS.POLITICS". This posting was seen by the interested parties and the response was productive. More recently Keith Henson made a posting which also should have been directed to CRYONICS.POLITICS -- as should have the replies. Keith is a very sophisticated E-mail user -- why could he not have included CRYONICS.POLITICS in the subject-line of his message? Does Keith (and the others) assume that the biggest audience is in the main CRYONET group and that he must not post in CRYONICS.POLITICS if his message is to be seen by a wide audience? I realize that once a subject-thread is started in the main CryoNet, that it is difficult to move to CRYONICS.POLITICS and that it seems unproductive to reply in an area other than where the original posting has been made. My biggest plea is that people who START discussions earn the respect of other CryoNetters by showing the intelligence to post to CRYONICS.POLITICS if that is where a message belong. This failing, I can think of a long list of CryoNetters whose postings should automatically be re-routed to CRYONICS.POLITICS. This conference is indeed read by many people and CryoNetters should not feel that by posting in that area that there message will not be seen. -- Ben Best () Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=3471
