Subject: CRYONICS markets

David Stodolsky thinks we have neglected the the British market for
cryonics. That isn't the case.

Britain and Australia are the largest overseas sources of members for both
Cryonics Institute and Alcor. Of course that isn't saying much, but efforts
continue. CI members Paul Michaels and Chrissie Loveday have made several
appearances on English and Irish TV and radio in recent months, as reported
in THE IMMORTALIST; so has writer Peter James.

On several broadcasts there was mention of the much lower Cryonics Institute
prices--whole body for $28,000 minimum at Detroit, or $32,500 in the London
area including local washout and perfusion and air shipment to Detroit,
through an arrangement with Albin's funeral home in London.

Barry Albin has been vigorously pushing cryonics in Britain, and has proposed
a national public relations campaign for British funeral directors, which CI
will probably fund when the details are worked out and our new PR material is
ready. He has built three transport containers, has a chartered plane on
standby, has negotiated special rates for flights to Detroit on scheduled
carriers, has trained three members of his staff in CI washout/perfusion
procedures, has solutions on hand, and can reach almost anywhere in Europe in
a few hours. Not long ago he went to Germany to help a CI member set up local
arrangements and won promises of full cooperation from hospital personnel.

Of course the U.S. market remains the most important, and within two or three
months the Cryonics Institute will raise its profile and allow journalists to
visit its (new) facility. Then, for the first time, more than a few people
will be aware of CI and its much lower prices, and some of those will begin
to understand that our lower prices do not mean lower quality or reduced
likelihood of revival, and there will probably be a gradual but substantial
increase in suspensions--which will help all of the organizations.
