Actually, the Branden thread kind of relates to cryonics, since I have
heard him express the opinion while talking with Eric Drexler that *death
is good for you*.  Not an unusual response from an average person, but
people expect more from folks like Branden, and are disappointed when they
turn out to have such ordinary reactions to cryonics/nanotech ways to
extend lifespans.  The problem (I suspect) is that a lifelong "making a
virtue out of a perceived necessity" builds mental modules which are very
unlikely to change in most people, and gurus are not much different from
the rest of us.  Keith Henson
