Subject: cryonics #364: Spouse's approval
To:

I think it is a little extreme to divorce your wife because she doesn't
approve of cryonics. I mean, if she expresses an intention to oppose
legally your efforts to have yourself suspended, okay: you have to choose
whether she is more important than your suspension.

On the other hand, I have never seen anything but disbelief and (good-
natured) derision from my family and girlfriends when I told them
about my participation in cryonics. So am I supposed to disassociate
myself from these people? Of course not! Nor do I expect them to
buy the ATTITUDE that suspension is just like an appendectomy, when
the null hypothesis is that cryonics won't work. When (if) someone
is successfully taken out of suspension, the null hypothesis will have
been disproven, but until then, I'm not going to sever any important
ties because my loved ones disbelieve something that has never been
shown to work.
