X-Message-Number: 3686 From: whscad1!kqb (Kevin Q Brown +1 201 386 7344) Subject: CRYONICS Admin: Moving CryoNet If all goes well, this will be the last "mailblast" of the main CryoNet mailing list from the old whscad1.att.com site. Thanks much to the people who have helped with the move to cryonet.org. Here is what to expect: - At about 1 AM (Pacific time) on Mon. Jan. 16 you should start to receive messages from Majordomo giving instructions on how to post, retrieve archive files, etc. at cryonet.org. (If you are one of the few people already subscribed at cryonet.org, then you will not receive this message.) - At about 2 AM (Pacific time) on Mon. Jan. 16 the first "mailblast" of the entire mailing list should start from cryonet.org. (Of course, if nobody has anything to say between the 6 PM Sunday mailing and 2 AM Monday, then no digest will go out at that time.) >From then onward, the "mailblasts" will start at 2 AM (Pacific time) each morning. Please note that the "mailblasts" will come from the address "" whereas the address to post your messages to will be "". Thus, a simple "reply" command in most mailers will send your message to the "owner-cryonet" address rather than the correct ("") address for posting. (FYI: Messages accidentally sent to "" end up in my mailbox at cryonet.org.) If this causes you a problem, let me know and I'll see what we can work out. (Maybe I should automatically forward to "cryonet" any messages sent to "owner-cryonet" that have "CRYONICS" in the Subject line?) Only the main cryonics mailing list will be moved on Mon. Jan. 16. Any messages to the "CRYONICS.POLITICS" list still will need to go to the old address "" or "". Hopefully, a replacement for the politics list will be created at cryonet.org within the next few weeks. FYI: The idea I posted for a possible third mailing list that would send each message out in "real time" unfortunately won't be realized anytime soon. Sameer Parekh said that his machine's Internet connection wouldn't be able to handle that much traffic yet. The archives at cryonet.org contain the latest 100 or 200 mailing list messages plus many of the 00* archive files. (If you send an archive retrieval request to cryonet.org and it doesn't find any of the files you requested, it will suggest that you try the old site.) The CryoNet Web pages (http://www.c2.org/~kqb/cryonet.html) provide another way to access the archives (during West Coast off-peak times), and they get updated automatically once each day. Please let me know if you have any trouble receiving CryoNet, posting to CryoNet, or retrieving archive files at cryonet.org. Kevin Q.
