I am new to he Internet, and I dropped in to your newsgroup for a visit
and I was surprised to not see any posts about the controversy in
Nederland, CO, where the town powers that be are moving to force a
woman to remove the frozen body of her husband from her property. Her
son, who has since been deported under unrelated auspices, had two
bodies froxen in a shed he had built on his property; that of his father
and a friend. The (Denver) Rocky Mountain News reports that the woman
has been ordered to remove the body of the father (I think the other has
been taken out already -- I don't know if he remains frozen or not) or
face ten days in jail and $600 in fines... SHe was found guilty Monday
of several building and zoning violations....On one hand, ten days in
jail and $600 doesn't sound like much to me, considering the stakes, but
I think the town council is serious and this it just one of the first
rounds. The woman has said that it would take $20,000 and more tme than
the March 6 deadline to move her husband to a cryonics facility in
California, and that she will appeal the ruling. The woman's name is Aud
Morstol, Her son, who lives in Norway now ( I believe) is Trygve Bauge
(He is a local celebrity for hosting the annual Polar Bear convention in
Boulder}, and the father and friend's names have been published in the
locals, but I don't have them now...
I am posting this under the assumption that you folks have concerns
about the legal issues involved and my guess is that your community
would be watching this case closely as the outcome could affect or
influence other cases. It has also crossed my mind that , if you wish,
you might have resources either to help Ms. Morstol fight the town
council (Nederland is pretty much a wide spot in the road), make it too
expensive for them to continue their endevour, or to help her to move
her husband to another facility.

Again I wish to say that I am kind of jumping into this newsgroup and
your business without knowing much about what you are concerned about,
and if I am wasting your time and bandwidth I apologize. This is a story
which has gotten a lot of local press, and I have no idea if anyone
utside of Colorado or in your newsgroup in particular has access to it.

I do, however, think the Nederland town council should leave Ms, Morstol
alone and that she deserves any help she can get in her fight against
City Hall.

Prost!
Matt
