I didn't think that it was useful to continue such objections on CryoNet, so I sent a private email message to Jim Davidson berating him for the posts. With respect to politics and cryonics, certainly, political issues are of vast importance for the success of cryonics! Any issue that has a major effect on the world will effect cryonics. But, if this discussion list is to have any meaning, then its topics of discussion *must* be somewhat restricted. IMO, politics is one of the topics which should be left out. One might think that, specifically, the qualities and organization of a medical system *is* a reasonable topic of discussion because of its relationship to life-extension and future cryonics. However, the organization of medical systems and what they can deliver is tightly bound to fundamental political philosophy. To properly resolve the issue requires a fundamental and complete statement of political philosophy and the derivation of the place and style of medical organization from that basis. I do not believe that discussion of the relative merits of private versus socialized medicine can be kept narrowly focused enough to be relevant to this forum. Therefore, I will not be answering your comments concerning socialized medicine and I urge others to also refrain from doing so on CryoNet. -- Paul -- Paul Wakfer 1220 E.
