Of course it's possible that Dr. Bedford's 1967 suspension wasn't good enough, and he won't be coming back. There are brains that have been chemically preserved from the mid 1800s. It's not inconceivable that they are recoverable. Someday, you might meet someone with memories of the 1700s! Unfortunately, the Egyptian mummies all had their brains discarded as part of the mummification process. Does anyone know what the condition of the brain of the 5000 year old "iceman" who was discovered in the Alps is? > Alcor has flirted with the idea of giving a freebie to someone famous > in order to generate some publicity, and I can't think of anyone more > appropriate. Marvin Minsky perhaps? Or Hal Clement? Unfortunately it's too late for Robert Heinlein (who was offered a free Alcor suspension, but turned it down) and Richard Feynman. mike <> writes: > This would have interesting consequences for one religious group, the > Jehovah's Witnesses, who, I understand, believe that *some* people > born in 1914 or earlier will still be living at the time of the > Second Coming of Christ. Somewhere in the Bible, Jesus is quoted as saying it would occur in the lifetime of those *then* living. I guess that "proves" that some of the Israelites were preserved sufficiently well when they were buried that an advanced technology can cure them?
