Charles Platt is partially right, that I, like others, prefer to do
things my own way - or else none of us would have broken free to be
cryonicists. But I, like others, also enjoy being part of a group of
like-minded people, and personally I tend to join rather than start such
groups.

But don't forget, Charles, I'm not an American citizen; I don't even have
a green card; I'm here somewhat precariously on a year-to-year visa, and
may not have the long-term option of moving to Scottsdale or wherever.

As for your comments about hurricanes: they're really not that big a
deal, they're not like earthquakes, you can easily build and stockpile
against them. And living in the Bahamas, if you live near an airport with
several flights a day, means you're living an hour away from Miami.

Of course, you have to be comfortable with small towns and empty
horizons, but on the other hand, some people aren't comfortable with New
York City.

But please remember, this is only an option being explored: I only
mentioned it because of Bill Walker's suggestion for ecotourist/retirement
cryonics facilities.... I have already posted an awareness of the
problems of spreading resources unnecessarily thin.
