Thats completely untrue. Where on earth did you get any idea like
that? 

I originated the policy. I should know what it is. Its very simple --
you just are supposed to treat the words of others on the mailing list
as though they were privately circulated writings on paper -- you only
can forward them to people off list if you ask first. That doesn't
mean you can't allow backups to be made or anything like that. The
concept that you couldn't allow off site backups has no relationship
at all to the actual policy.
