X-Message-Number: 5063 From: (Thomas Donaldson) Subject: Re: CryoNet #5046 - #5052 Date: Sat, 28 Oct 1995 12:50:03 -0700 (PDT) Hi again! I wish to thank Mike Darwin for his comment about my own quasidefense of his observations. And his observations are stated much more clearly in his last message than in his first one. In the land of science, observations should be king. Yes, sometimes they aren't. But that's OUR fault, not a defect of science. And I extend this belief (personally) to all kinds of phenomena: for instance, those who say that they have seen flying saucers, or ghosts. It's not that I believe that they have seen flying saucers or ghosts, at all (in both cases I do not), but that they are either lying (and will someday be caught out) or really did see SOMETHING. And yes, we cannot investigate every reported observation, but not for intellectual but for economic reasons. But we should still keep firmly in mind that we have no explanation for many observations. Our knowledge of how the world works remains quite incomplete. Best and long long life, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=5063
