On the other hand, if the newsgroup was under the sci.life-extension.*
tree, perhaps the random Usenet reader would more likely to associate
cryonics with life extension than with mad scientists, thus helping in
some small way to reduce the mystique of cryonics that I believe scares
away a lot of potential cryonicists.  In my opinion, the "prestige and
visibility" of a second-level newsgroup is very limited at best.
