X-Message-Number: 5729 Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 01:19:10 GMT From: (Garret Smyth) Subject: uk.legal I am deliberately sending this message to cryonet only. For the benefit of newcomers to the internet, and old hands who may have forgotten, here is some advice. The cheapness and ease of communication on the internet means that a lot of people out there who have nothing better to do (especially computer nerds, students and extra especially computer-nerd-students) just get on it to have arguements. No more than you would spend a lot of time or effort arguing with a soap-box speaker on a street corner, spend time on the deliberate flamers. Look, these people are obviously not lawyers. For heaven's sake, their language wouldn't be tolerated in any court! They haven't even attempted to answer any legal questions posed. If you do want to fight them, remember that the people you argue with directly will probably *never* be converted, but a lot of other people read the messages so make sure your postings are reasonable form the point of view of a impartial observer who you might just convert. For the sake of cryonics as a whole try to appear intelligent, informed, and polite however nasty the other side might be. And take a long hard look at yourself; if there is even the slightest chance that an inpartial observer might possibly suspect, however erroneously, that you are a sufferer of Asperger's syndrome, keep schtumm. TTFN Garret PS To those of you who may be tempted to write in saying that I don't practice what I preach, the rumour that I am uncouth and beligerent is untrue and was spread maliciously by a snivelling bastard that lost an arguement with me. And I might add that his injuries were entirely due to him falling down stairs of his own volition! -- Garret Smyth Phone: 0181 789 1045 or +44 181 789 1045 Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=5729
