I want to congratulate Drs. Pichugin, Zhegunov, and their
colleagues for this important work, and also thank the Cryonics
Institute for sponsoring it. The recovery of electrical activity
in brain slices after freezing to -196'C is an extremely important
result. It is a result that may even allow legal argument that
cryonics patients are alive by *current* medical criteria!

I agree with Dr. Pichugin that cryopreservation of the
whole body is an extremely difficult problem that will not be
solved for a very long time (decades at least). In the meantime
we should continue improving brain preservation technology, as
he and his colleagues plan to do.
