Only 33% of the stroke patients given a placebo made a full recovery, of those given the drug "Citicoline" made by Interneuron Pharmaceuticals, 53% made a full recovery. According to the report, it seems very safe, has few side effects and does not induce bleeding like the drug TPA does. This may also have some relevance to Cryonics patients, because it helps even if it's given as late as 24 hours after the stroke by stopping toxic chemicals given off by damaged cells that then kill other cells, and so stops a lethal chain reaction. This sort of thing happens when the brain is deprived of oxygen, something both stroke victims and Cryonics patients have in common.
