Subject: Spitsbergen Permafrost Expedition

 A Canadian-led expedition will be unearthing seven bodies buried in the
 permafrost on Spitsbergen, a Norwegian island located in the arctic. The
 purpose is to sample the virus which killed 20 million people in 1918 &
 1920. 
 The average annual temperatures at a variety of permafrost sites are as
 follows: 
 Nuuk, Greenland: 31 F
 Whitehorse, Yukon: 30
 Fairbanks, Alaska: 26
 Yellowknife, NWT: 22
 Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen: 22
 Churchill, Manitoba: 19
 Pond Inlet, NWT: 6.3
 Resolute, NWT: 2.8
