Well put, Jim. I don't know what the solution to this will be... I just
wish that these public exchanges could be avoided. They do nothing to
promote cryonics, and give possibly interested lurkers fair reason to
classify us as bitter egotists with nothing better to do than bicker.

I understand there are substantive issues here that might well bear
discussion, but in my judgement, nothing constructive is being served by
hashing this out in sci.cryonics. We don't want to come off looking
like the People's Front of Judea vs. the Judean People's Front, do we?
(pardon the "Life of Brian" reference for those who haven't seen it.)

The success of cryonics depends on our activities as cryonicists, and in
an important way on the public perception of those activities. In this
sense there is a parallel to the Mutually Assured Destruction policy of
the cold war. It is not in our best interest to use our weapons against
each other, tempting though it may seem when our egos have been bruised.

I'm sure that all of us would be very pleased to see a truce among those
who have had their feelings hurt. As Jim said, let's put this behind us
and see what we can do to promote cryonics.

Peace,
