X-Message-Number: 6454 Date: Sat, 06 Jul 96 17:02:44 From: Subject: Alcor on Prometheus Project To CryoNet >From Steve Bridge, Alcor July 6th, 1996 Readers curious why Alcor has not responded to Paul Wakfer's "Prometheus Project" posting need to be aware of several factors: 1. I am on vacation in Indiana. I am typing this message on an inadequate little TI notebook computer. I have not spent every waking minute thinking about cryonics. Sorry. 2. Contrary to some people's impressions, Paul's posting (along with a simultaneous letter to me) was the FIRST time Alcor had heard of this project. We cannot decide whether or not to support it without knowing more about it. (I am sending questions to Paul today also.) Brian Wowk and Saul Kent obviously had more time to consider it and were ready to respond. 3. As Alcor's President, I cannot commit Alcor to such a Project without discussion with the Board of Directors. Since they ALSO just saw this for the first time, this will take a bit of time. 4. This message is not intended to disparage Paul's hard work or his ideas. I am encouraged to see this effort taking place. It is merely to inform you all why Alcor's response has been delayed.
