The Prometheus Project:
Convincingly demonstrated, scientifically proven and published,
fully reversible brain cryopreservation within 10 years.
Latest Pledge Totals
As of midnight EDT July 8, 1996, the total of pledges is $135,000.00 per
year for each of 10 years. Again today's pledges came along with valuable
ideas and suggestions which will help the Project achieve success. In
addition, two of today's pledgers said that they will seriously consider
pledging more in the future as they see the developing scientific and
business plans.
A $1,000.00 per year pledge was received from Carlos Mondragon who
announced it in a Cryonet posting which also contained many sound ideas,
suggestions and questions. These are commented upon in other messages. Carlos
is the second Alcor member to pledge at least the minimum requirement and the
first Alcor board member to do so. Naturally, I hope this augers well for
Alcor board approval and assistance to be forthcoming after their meeting
next weekend. Carlos has my sincere thanks for his pledge and for thus
showing us how much he honors himself and wants to enjoy much, much more
life. Even though Carlos and I have had our differences in the past, when it
comes to the fight against Death, we will be blood brothers and comrades in
arms.
Today's second pledge for $3000.00 per year for 10 years comes from
Candy Ostman and Larry Wood. This is the first pledge from persons who are
not signed up or even in the sign-up process with any cryonics organization.
Candy and Larry have a health nutrient products business and I new that they
were very keen on living as long and healthy lives as possible. It is very
heartening to see that they also understand that the Prometheus Project is
very important for their life extension goals and are willing to put a large
amount of money towards increasing their chances for extended life if anti-
aging research fails to produce results soon enough to save them.
The third pledge of the day for $1000.00 per year arrived by email in
the evening from someone who asked that he not be named because his "boss"
was very opposed to cryonics. One of the important results of the successful
completion of the Prometheus Project will be that many people can "come out
of the closet" on the issue of cryonics without fear of losing their jobs or
their friends and family.
I want to also report that a smaller than minimum pledge and a message
of support was received from David Cosenza. David's pledge has not been
counted in the above total because it will have to go through Alcor, his
cryonics organization, and be bundled with others to total over $10K per year
before coming back to the Prometheus Project as a pledge for future share
purchases. However, this is now the third reported pledge from an Alcor
member and I suspect that we are seeing the beginnings of an outpouring of
such. Thanks a lot David for your support. Let's try to forget past
differences and work together on this project which is so important to both
of us. And I guess we'll have to ask Peter Merel to take back his crack at
you, since otherwise it would imply that now that you're supporting the
project it can't be any good! :)) Peter, now that David has shown his good
will by pledging, and not flaming you right back, how about *you* retracting
your remark in the interest of the unity in this project which is so
profoundly to the benefit of us all? Please.
Pledge totals in each category are now:
10 for $10,000.00 per year for 10 years,
4 for $5,000.00 per year for 10 years,
1 for $4,000.00 per year for 10 years,
1 for $3,000.00 per year for 10 years,
8 for $1,000.00 per year for 10 years.
The 24 pledges now total $1,350,000.00 over all ten years.
I want, and *our lives* need to have some more $10K per year pledges. I know
there are lots of readers out there earning sufficient income that this is
not going to seriously dampen their lifestyle. Hell, I don't have *any*
assured present yearly income and I've done it. Remember you don't have to
put out a cent until you are convinced that this Project is going to make a
very large increase in the chance of *you* having a vastly extended life. Are
you going to sit there and honestly say, "No, I don't care to live that
much", because if you do then I don't understand why you're even bothering to
read this news-group. Sooner than you think, *you* will be history and not
remembered enough for any of *us* to even give a damn.
