Subject: clarifications

In an earlier post today, I said that, to my knowledge, no cryonics
organization has ASSURED income adequate to meet its current and prospective
expenses--although Cryonics Institute is getting close and has had good
positive cash flow in recent years. Two clarifications:

1. In a crunch, CI could cut back to a bare-bones operation, forgoing new
projects and expansion work etc., and EASILY cover its expenses out of
investment income. I believe something similar is true of Alcor. But in such
a crunch, we would hardly want to be committed to ten year support of
Prometheus, or of anything other than servicing our patients.

2. CryoCare and American Cryonics Society subcontract their physical
services. I have not seen their financial statements, nor those of their
main subcontractors, BioPreservation and CryoSpan. But I would be very
surprised if either BP or CS has assured cryonics-related income sufficient
to cover expenses.

Of course, all the organizations have intangible or off-the-books emergency
resources, primarily the willingness of members to pitch in, above and
beyond, if things get really tough. But no plan should rely on that.
