The Prometheus Project:
Convincingly demonstrated, scientifically proven and published,
fully reversible brain cryopreservation within 10 years.
Latest Pledge Totals
As of midnight EDT July 14, 1996, the total of pledges is $140,000.00
per year for each of 10 years. A $2000.00 per year pledge was received by
private email from Ai Ling (see other post for my reply to his message), and
$1000.00 per year pledge was made on Cryonet by Yvan Bozzonetti. My sincere
appreciation go out to both of these pledgers for wanting to help themselves
and the rest of us to greatly increase our chances at vastly extended life.
Pledge totals in each category are:
10 for $10,000.00 per year for 10 years,
4 for $5,000.00 per year for 10 years,
1 for $4,000.00 per year for 10 years,
1 for $3,000.00 per year for 10 years,
1 for $2,000.00 per year for 10 years,
11 for $1,000.00 per year for 10 years.
The 28 pledges total $1,400,000.00 over all ten years.
Pledge Gathering and Project Planning Timetable
My personal goal for this Project is to have it begin in early 1998. I
believe that it will be, at least that long before the $1M per year in
pledges are gathered, the scientific and business plans are fully formulated
and the scientific and administrative teams are recruited. Therefore, those
thinking about pledging should not think of whether they can afford the money
now, but, instead to begin at the beginning of 1998 and continue for up to 10
years thereafter. The pledging needs to proceed at an average of under $2K/yr
each day in order to have the project fully funded by the target date. Since
it began (off the Net) on June 14, 1996, over the first 30 days we have
averaged $4.6K per day and have averaged about $3.5K per day since going to
the Net 11 days ago.
My Plea for Your Rational Evaluation
We're not talking charity here. We're not talking high-risk, high-return
investments here. We're not talking new cars, fine restaurants, trips abroad,
sexy new outfits. We're not even talking eye glasses, hearing aids or dental
implants. We're talking about your most basic possession, that which enables
you to want, to need, and to enjoy all others. We're talking about your LIFE!
and about greatly enhancing your chances for a lot more. And I believe that
we are *not* talking about an enhancement from 1% to 5%. No! I believe that
we are talking about an enhancement from 1% to 90%!
I'm convinced that this project is my and your best bet to do that and
that's why I am ready to forgo all but the bare necessities of life for a
period of 10 years if necessary. I believe that this greatly enhanced chance
of vastly more life where I'll have all the time in the world to play, to
read, to eat well, to have another family, to delve deeply into the
foundations of physics, to do and to see countless wonders that I can't now
imagine, is worth giving up a lot now. I am not asking as much of others.
Each person must judge the worth of the now and the future according to their
own system of values. What I am asking, is that you *do* judge the value of
the enhanced chance that the execution of this project will give you and the
relation of that value to a reduction in your present lifestyle, and then
proceed to pledge the amount which will maximize your total life enjoyment. I
can ask nothing more and you should want to pledge nothing less.
