I fail to see how CryoCare could possibly provide good service to Japanese members, either on a planned-standby or emergency basis, even if Japanese law would permit it. For this reason, like Steve, I declined to be interviewed for Japanese TV, probably causing a certain amount of offense in the process. (The polite Japanese TV person was INCREDULOUS that I didn't think it was important to be interviewed.) It does seem to me that there is probably potential interest in cryonics in Japan. The Japanese science-fiction magazine Hayakawa SF reprinted an article that I wrote about cryonics for an American magazine, and illustrated it with little cartoon line drawings, one of them showing my head being dunked in liquid nitrogen. When I visited Japan in December last year I found that the science-fiction fraternity was quite willing to take cryonics seriously. But as has been pointed out, the legal and logistical problems are daunting. =============================== Charles Platt ============================== vice-president / CryoCare Foundation 1-800-TOP-CARE http://www.cryocare.org/cryocare 1-800-867-2273 ============================================================================ Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=6539
