Subject: Pledgers And Nonpledgers

Several leaders of cryonics organizations have said they would
like to see The Prometheus Project succeed, but have questions about The
Project, some of which they have articulated.

Several people have commented that they have limited time to
give to The Project. That's certainly true for me.

I have a few suggestions to help us make better use of our
time, while helping to expedite The Project.

As I see it, anyone who pledges to The Project at this time
does so because they may want to invest in The Project, because they
want to show their support for The Project and, in some cases, because
they want to participate in the scientific, business and legal planning
required to bring The Project to fruition.

As I see it, anyone who does not pledge to The Project at this
time does so either because they're not interested in it, because
they have questions or reservations about scientific, business and
legal issues relating to it, or because they see no hope of being
able to invest in it.

I propose the following, which is applicable both to cryonics
organizations and to individuals.

I think the nonpledgers should let the pledgers (who wish to
do so) work out the details of The Project. When the pledgers are ready
to show the nonpledgers the scientific and business plans they've
developed for The Project, the nonpledgers will have the opportunity
to state their reservations and ask their questions of the pledgers.

In the meantime, the main thing that the nonpledgers who want
The Project to succeed can do is to give all those cryonicists who
haven't yet heard of The Project an opportunity to learn about it.

For cryonics organizations that would mean putting information
about The Project in their publications and web sites and allowing
mailings to their members about Project meetings. This, of course,
would be contingent on the guarantee that none of these meetings would
be partisan in any way.

For individuals that would mean helping to spread the word
about The Project to all cryonicists by helping with meetings and by
telling other cryonicists about The Project.

Naturally, nonpledgers will always be welcome to become
pledgers at any time.

This seems to me to be the most efficient way to proceed with
The Project.
