CRYONICS trust funding Olaf Henny (CryoNet # 6663) suggests a trust arrangement for funding cryonic suspension, the trustor to receive the income during his life. (This comment is posted to SCI. CRYONICS because Mr. Henny's was, although it doesn't really address "scientific" aspects of cryonics.) Cryonics Institute for some years has had available an approved form of living trust, whereby various kinds of assets, including securities, can be used to guarantee payment of the suspension fee. The trustor (member and prospective patient) owns and controls the trust during his life, and receives any income, and can make changes or withdrawals at will. At death, Cryonics Institute becomes the owner. Of course, we require periodic confirmation that the trust remains adequate and in effect, just as with life insurance. There are also other funding possibilities, for members who cannot obtain new life insurance or prefer not to. CI is becoming more flexible, since our financial position is now much stronger than previously; and while we still cannot take any substantial risks, we make every effort to accomodate to the member's circumstances. Anyone who would like a copy of the trust may request it of Sally Bazan: <> Robert Ettinger Cryonics Institute Immortalist Society Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=6665
