Subject: SCI. CRYONICS re-post

Olaf Henny has pointed out that it is often legitimate to post something to
SCI. CRYONICS that is not, strictly speaking, DIRECTLY germane to scientific
aspects of cryonics. Part of his reasoning is that research depends on
funding, and many cryonics activities directly or indirectly contribute to
potential funding of research.

In the past I have hesitated to post to SCI. CRYONICS anything without an
actual focus on technology. In future, unless there are convincing
objections, I'll reverse my previous practice, and make cross posting to SCI.
CRYONICS the rule rather than the exception.

For today I'll repeat the gist of the notice sent yesterday to the CryoNet
list:

On Aug. 3 the Cryonics Institute suspended its 20th whole-body patient. A 74
year old Indiana man was dying of lung cancer, and emergency arrangements
were made in a very brief period. Because of excellent cooperation by family
and local medical people, results were much better than is usual in such
circumstances. Details will appear in the next issue of THE IMMORTALIST.
