The Prometheus Project:
Convincingly demonstrated, scientifically proven and published,
fully reversible long-term brain cryopreservation within 10 years.
Latest Pledge Totals
As of midnight PDT August 4, 1996, the total of pledges is $298,200 per
year for each of 10 years. This sudden jump is mainly as a result of the
changes which I announced 24 hours ago concerning the way that pledges would
be changed into share purchase agreements. This biggest pledge came again
from Jim Halperin who increased his pledge from $25,000 to $50,000 per year
for 10 years directly as a result of the announced changes. This was
followed, as they had promised, by Saul Kent and Bill Faloon increasing their
pledges also from $25,000 to $50,000 per year for a total increase of $75,000
caused by Jim's decision. Prior to Jim's increased pledge, I had received a
confidential pledge for $5,000 per year making a total of $80,000 for the
day. Finally, this evening I received an email pledge from Forrest Bishop for
$5,000 per year and another confidential pledge by word of mouth for $1,000
per year with more to follow later. After receiving this record-smashing
total of pledge for $86,000 per year or $860,000 over the full 10 years in
one day, I am feeling almost "jaded" by it all. If someone phoned up right
now and said "I want to pledge $10,000 per year", I'd probably answer, "so,
what else is new?". Naturally, but very sincerely, I thank all of these
pledgers for making us come very close to 30% of the pledge campaign
objective. Never in my wildest, most optimistic dreams did I ever think 6
weeks ago that the Project would be near 30% of pledge goal just one month
after being announced on the Internet.
Pledge totals in each dollar level are now:
3 for $50,000 per year for 10 years,
8 for $10,000 per year for 10 years,
7 for $5,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $4,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $3,000 per year for 10 years,
3 for $2,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $1,200 per year for 10 years,
19 for $1,000 per year for 10 years.
The 43 pledges total $2,982,000 over all ten years.

No country $5,000
There are still many cryonicists who are dedicated and active on these
lists, who we haven't heard from. Several *have* come forward lately - Thomas
Donaldson, Mike Perry, John Clark, Ben Best, even Keith Lynch and Ken Stone
who had serious questions and doubts. Where are the others who we used to
hear from so often? If you have some problem with the Project please let me
know. Many others have done so and in many cases I have made positive changes
for the Project accordingly. Your problems with the Project as it is may lead
to major enhancements, so please let me know them.
