If Platt and Ettinger are going to rehash their statements in public, I
guess public input is permitted.

My feeling is that Platt writes as a novelist and contributor to
alt.tasteless.jokes, and his words are intended to convey meanings beyond
what they appear to say. Ettinger on the other hand writes from a
background of science and philosophy, and his words are intended to convey
exactly their surface meaning, no more, no less.

Gentlemen, you should try reading each other's words with each other's
mentality in mind. You are both extremely careful with your use of words
- but you have differing expectations of how people will read them.

Always in favor of cultural diversity,

Robin HL
